Final Major Project - Fictional band - Define: Unit 12/13

Final Major Project - Fictional Band:
Define

Based on my previous discovery phase, I can now clarify what the direction of my project will be. For my FMP, I will create a fictional band supported by a promotional campaign advertising their debut single and show. This band's message will directly link back to the themes of democracy, protest, and empowerment. This will be evident in the visual language used to represent them in contrast to the visual language used to represent the power they oppose.

Regarding outcomes, I will create a series of outcomes each representing an aspect of the band. My primary outcome will be a series of character designs to represent the members of the fictional band. Following this, I will create various promotional materials and assets to support those designs. These will possibly include: poster designs, single artwork (produced on a record/CD sleeve), a visualiser single video release, physical promotional materials (e.g. T shirt prints, tote bag prints, stickers/badges, Riso print posters, lyrics zine).

To create these outcomes, I will source materials and experiment with a variety of processes for my physical outcomes. These may include: t-shirts/tote bags for merchandise production, card to use in the Zund cutter to create a record sleeve, Photoshop mock-up assets to represent the band's promotional campaign on billboards/tube posters/bus posters. I will also research a variety of sources to inform my development and outcomes. These will possibly include references to other fictional bands, real bands/musicians, documents on world building, and artist/designer research to inform the assets created. If there are any processes I am unfamiliar with (eg. developing an single record sleeve), I will also research these processes to ensure my experiments are made with careful consideration and understanding.
